Zos Chanukah
I know that tonite/tomorrow is called "Zos Chanukah" (this is Chanukah). Why? And what does that mean practically for us? Should i be focusing on something special during the day?
I heard once that Zos Chanukah is such an important day that Moshiach could come.
My question is why??

It's called "Zos Chanukah" because in laining this morning after completing the reading of all the nesiim and their korbanos the Torah says "Zos Chanukas Hamizbeach B'Yom Himashach Oso." I guess if you're a girl and you don't go to minyan you wouldn't know that. Nothing to be ashamed of. As for the kochos of the 8th day of Chanukah and how specifically the 8th day can bring Moshiach ayin every Chanukah sefer ever written. I think one idea is that the number 8 is l'maaleh min ha tevah (7 is tevah) and the 8th day is a culmination of all the days of Chanukah and we can reach higher than we normally can reach. Through those kochos we have the power to bring moshiach. Sorry i can't quote any specific seforim on this topic, i don't have any in front of me right now.
awww thanks! i guess i've got to work hard meeting all expecttions now! lol
my friend told me she thinks my blog is interesting and funny and im like- i just write about random stuff.. glad it's interesting but im not really trying THAT hard
Funny- I just asked Mr. NMF the same question today. And- got another cute answer- R' Yitzchok Berkowitz says that it's a special day because the 2 long sedarim that men learn in yeshiva are back, after 7 days of Chanukah only learning 1 1/2 sedarim. :)
